General Digimon / Re: Digimon Adventure Tri Available on Crunchyroll

It's not like we're expecting Dostoevsky here.

Ha, right. It was the same lovable, reliable amount of nonsensical that it's always been. And that was sort of refreshing.

Are we talking about this yet? (There are 5,000 separate forums here - God damn if I can find the relevant one.)

Because AAAAAH. I did the CrunchyRoll free trial for laughs - Sue me, I wanted to see what my friends were up to. I knew that it wasn't going to be good, and it certainly isn't, but I've having a delirious nostalgia freak out anyway. Three episodes in and getting a genuine kick out of it.

Best part was my girlfriend coming into the living room while I was firing up the first episode:

Her: "I thought that was Digimon for half a second."

Me: "IT IS."

Bought the girlfriend a PS4... which, incidentally, means that I got myself a PS4.

My parents got me a Black & Decker Power Station. Basically a mini-generator. Obviously pretty handy... but being a grown up kind of sucks.

Yamato had been hit in the face before. That wasn't anything new... but the bottle sucked. His face cut open, he fell backwards on his ass, barely bracing himself with his hands. Keiko was shouting, but it took him a second to make out the words.

Gabumon leapt into action, a blue beam of energy beginning to form in his mouth, ready to fire a shot...

Suddenly, he had the jagged edge of a broken bottle pressed against his chest. Gabumon reacted, but Yamato extended his hand, stopping him from blowing her away.

Yamato suddenly had an idea what this was all about. Keiko.

"She isn't anyone's," he said deliberately, slowly. "You understand that, right?"

Yamato flinched, taking a step down from the altar.

"...What the hell is this about?"

“You think I’m responsible for Caleb too, huh? Join the jogressing club,” Yamato said, meaner than he intended to. The guilt of the previous day’s events had been eating at him all night… If he was paying attention, this whole thing could have been avoided.

Yamato’s eyes were still heavy from sleep as he made his way out from the back room, following the calling voice. Gabumon loyally came to his side, sure that whatever was brewing was trouble.

He stepped out from the back, onto the altar, looking down the aisle to Kaylee - who was running a bottle along the pews and calling his name in a sing-song fashion.

“What the hell is your problem?” He asked, immediately getting the sense that this was going to go south quickly.

His head was throbbing when he woke up. What the hell was he drinking last night?

Little beams of light poked through his shades, even though the had specifically bought ones to block the sun out. He checked his phone on the nightstand, just about 11am. It wasn’t unlike him to sleep until noon or one on the weekends - but all things considered, he was feeling pretty good. He moved himself out of bed, standing up and stretching — he was naked aside from a pair of black boxer briefs.

On the other side of the bed was a sleeping girl. From this angle, he could only see her distinctive red hair. He was tempted to wake her, see if she wanted to go grab some breakfast… or maybe just hang out in bed all day, with whatever food they could scrounge up from his kitchen. Either way, he didn’t want to wake her.

Yamato picked up a crumpled t-shirt from the floor, putting it on before moving out into the living room of his spacious Tokyo apartment. Against the wall sat his guitar… He kept it on display even though he hadn’t played it in several years.

Suddenly, his phone rang. Funny, he thought he had left it in the bedroom… but it turned out that it was in his hand.

“Yamato,” the voice on the other line said. It was heavily distorted… but it sounded like Taichi. “Yamato. We have to… Myotismon… It’s all over… We have to…”

He took the phone from his ear and stared at the screen. What was he talking about? What was happening?

Yamato jolted awake on a stiff cot in the church’s recreation center. His back ached a little, and his muscles were still sore from the previous day.

“jogress,” he muttered to himself. He was still here. This was the reality he lived in now.

He got up and threw his leather jacket over the same white t-shirt he had been wearing for a few days, now with a few deep brown stains of day-old blood decorating it.

He heard a voice calling from another room.

What now?

Yamato sprinted forward, looking back to Caleb: "Come on!" Was all he yelled, figuring the kid could take care of himself.

Caleb exhaled and ran, dodging rubble and bats the best that he could, trying not to trip. "Okay," he thought to himself. "Not so bad, I can keep up with-"

He felt something in his chest - It was quick, and he couldn't quite describe it. A harsh pain, and a wetness pouring down his chest. He felt himself being lifted off of his feet against his will, and he had no strength to fight back. Looking down, he saw the source of all of it: a giant black claw ripping through his chest, soaking in his blood. It was then he heard the growling, the breath of the Devidramon on his neck.

"Shit," was all he mumbled as he died. "Shit."

He held her for a good, long moment - only seeing the action and violence out of the corner of his eye. It was all white noise to him at the moment. He shook his head and looked down at her, tangling his fingers in her hair.

Yamato didn't care anymore.

His lips were against hers faster than he knew what he was doing. His arm wrapped tightly around her waist, pulling her as close to him as he could get her. Around them was chaos - pavement cracking, monsters screeching, ground shaking explosions - but for a second, as he kissed her, everything was silent.

Caleb picked himself up off of the ground, the sudden blow to the pavement disoriented him. He knew there was fighting - the sounds of crumbling and screams made that apparent - but he couldn't begin to tell you which way was up. He stumbled, a steady stream of blood pouring down his forehead.

"Shit," he muttered to himself, looking up. Yamato was gone. Where the hell did he go?

A little ways up the road, WereGarurumon body checked into the Airdramon, smashing them both into a nearby building - creating deep cracks in the concrete.

Yamato was running, faster than he knew he could. Keiko's hair stood out among the chaos, and it drove him foreword despite his legs wanting to crumble into dust. He yelled her name, reaching his arm out and taking long strides.

"Garuru-" Yamato started to say, the sight of the crumbling building out of the corner of his eye.

"Already on it," the wolf creature grumbled, his lips unmoving. He made a swift turn, cutting up the block towards the street Keiko and Kaylee took with long, bounding strides.

An Airdramon came from the sky, and soon a second.

"Off," Garurumon commanded.

"What was that?" Caleb shouted in response against the wind.

"OFF," he said again, turning his body to kick Yamato and Caleb to the pavement. Garurumon's sprint grew faster, leaping into the air and letting out a fierce growl as his body turned a glowing white. When he landed on the ground, he stood upright... with pants. WereGarurumon.

He touched her arm. He knew he shouldn't have, but he did.

"Be careful out there."

He let her go, moving back out onto the street. "Alright everyone," he announced, pointing out towards the West. "Be at the next spot in an hour and a half, we clear?"
