I played Black and my fiance got White and I was into it for a little while... but I've been playing Pokemon since I was 18-19 or so... I'm turning 31 and this is just so much all the same stuff. I'm finally Pokemon'd out I think and I hate to say it because it's a good franchise and a good game concept but this generation X, Y and eventually Z is enough for me. I never even got past the first gym in Diamond and I've only ever finished all the way through Crystal Version. I've never attempted completing a pokedex.

Looks good though and the starters look great, perhaps Vanessa will get into this and I can see her enjoy it.

I have Y version but I haven't played it in a month. I ran out of things to do and got bored shiny-hunting.

Didn't buy it, eh?

I think my boyfriend played X for like 90 hours the first two weeks he had it. I think the plan is that he's eventually going to get Y as well, and that's going to be "my copy" since I'm not sure I'll actually get all the way through, but he's interested in grinding and stuff.

I'm totally going to make the name my friends call me be "Master".

I've played through it twice already. First was a blind Nuzlocke (and my first successfully completed Nuzlocke run, yay!) and then I decided to play it again normally. I dig it. Chespin is my favorite starter, he's a hoot and a half.

Oddly enough, in my opinion, the new generation of Pokémon actually look like Digimon.

Could Digimon be Pokémon's new muse? Probably not, but it's worth it to note.

Voting to turn this thread into the Pokemon General. That is, if forum activity picks back up enough.

Anyway, I'm digging the changes in UU the most (for those of you that don't understand competitive lingo, that's Under Used, part of the tier system), so that's what I've been running my teams in. My current build looks something like:

Aggron (M) @ Aggronite
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 Atk / 136 Def / 120 SpD
- Thunder Wave
- Avalanche
- Iron Head
- Earthquake

Forretress (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Body Slam
- Stealth Rock
- Spikes
- Rapid Spin

Cloyster (F) @ White Herb
Ability: Skill Link
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Shell Smash
- Ice Shard
- Icicle Spear
- Rock Blast

Skuntank (F) @ King's Rock
Ability: Stench
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Taunt
- Dig
- Shadow Claw
- Sucker Punch

Gallade (M) @ Lum Berry
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Drain Punch
- Psycho Cut
- Knock Off

Galvantula (M) @ Air Balloon
Ability: Compound Eyes
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunder Wave
- Thunder
- Volt Switch
- Sticky Web

As for an example of how the team plays (not the best run, but still a victory), click here for a simulation.

Spoiler for Edit #1:
Just so I don't take up space, I will edit this post with team updates. Seeing as I'll be reworking this team from time to time, I see little point in just throwing up new posts for each mon I replace.

Anyway, it came to my attention that Skuntank wasn't getting enough hits in to be realistically effective, so I replaced Double-Edge with Sucker Punch, Crunch with Taunt, and Poison Jab with Dig (this is temporary just because I run paralysis as my status effect and poisoning opponents just gets in the way of that). Also, I'm trading out Infestation for Thunder on Galvantula, and using Compound Eyes instead of Unnerve. While Infestation can be a pretty nasty set up for a kill, or stop anyone too afraid of my Sticky Web from switching out, I need something to take out Mega Blastoise (I've found that pretty much wrecks this build otherwise). A new simulation vid is up which shows these changes.
